Public Hearing - Proposed Zoning Text Amendment
The Lower Providence Township Board of Supervisors has decided to suspend consideration of the supportive short-term housing zoning text amendment. The Board has outstanding questions and concerns that have not been answered to their satisfaction. At this time there are no plans to list the text amendment on a future agenda. If the Board decides to reconsider the text amendment at a future time, notice will be provided a minimum of 30 days in advance.
The Lower Providence Township Board of Supervisors will take action on the following ordinance at it regularly scheduled meeting on April 4, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. to be held in the Township Building, 100 Parklane Drive, Eagleville, PA 19403. The public may attend this meeting in person or via remote means. The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on and will consider for adoption and Ordinance which would amend the Township's Code of Ordinances at Chapter 143 - "Zoning," Article 1 - "Title; Effective Date; Purpose; Definitions," and Article XXVII - "Institutional Overlay District".
The Ordinance to be considered and acted upon is the following:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LOWER PROVIDENCE AT PART II [GENERAL LEGISLATION], CHAPTER 143 [ZONING], BY AMENDING AND RESTATING ARTICLE I [TITLE; EFFECTIVE DATE; PURPOSE; DEFINITIONS], ARTICLE XXVII [INSTITUTIONAL OVERLAY DISTRICT] TO ADD A DEFINITION FOR SUPPORTIVE HOUSING AND PERMIT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING IN THE INSTITUTIONAL OVERLAY DISTRICT
The proposed Ordinance to be considered and acted upon on April 4, 2024, has been drafted in the interest of maintenance of peace, good government, and the health, safety, morals, general welfare, cleanliness, beauty, convenience and comfort of Lower Providence Township and its residents.
The proposed Ordinance, inter alia, amends the Lower Providence Township Code of Ordinances at Chapter 143 – “Zoning,” by amending and restating Article I - “Title; Effective Date; Purpose; Definitions,” and Article XXVII – “Institutional Overlay District” to add a definition for supportive housing and permit supportive housing in the Institutional Overlay District, repeals all inconsistent ordinances, and establishes an effective date for the ordinance, as further outlined in the Ordinance.
A presentation by representatives of Resources for Human Development (RHD), which offers supportive, short-term housing, was made at the January 18, 2024 Board of Supervisors meeting.
