Providence Place at the Collegeville Inn Update

Providence Place has received comments from the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) toward their request for a Conditional Letter of Map Amendment (CLOMR) related tot he National Flood Insurance Program on December 7, 2017.

On December 15, Providence Place responded to previous PennDOT reviews by submitting revised plans toward their Highway Occupancy and Signal permits.

Work continues within the existing buildings and to remove some existing paving and some vegetation. The Township awaits plan submission for the floodwall, further building construction and some permits from outside agencies prior to the issuance of further permits.

The Board of Supervisors approved the land development plan for the senior living facility at the site of the former Collegeville Inn in September. The existing Inn building – a structure familiar to many – will be remodeled and join a new addition to form the senior living facility. The restored building will serve as the main dining room and activities space for residents and as office space for staff.  Newly-created spaces within the renovated building will include a spa, community room, resident pub, activities room, and deck overlooking the Perkiomen Creek. The new two-story addition will house 113 resident apartments of varying size and styles. The Providence Place community will offer residents a continuum of care, ranging from minor assistance to significant daily aid, with a separate memory support component.

Groundbreaking was held in October. Horst Construction, a Lancaster based firm, is the general contractor. The community is part of the Leader family of senior care companies that operates five other senior communities in Pennsylvania. Former PA Gov. George M. Leader and his family founded Providence Place in 1998.
